Boy, I bet that book will be a big seller. I'd love a copy.
Not to be blasphemous re: Julia Child, but many of her recipes are not for weeknight cooking. They're more suited to the weekend when we all have more time to cook.
Thanks for the post, Mimi. I'll be sure to look for the book when it comes out.

Oh yes, it sounds like something I'd like on my shelf! I'd read about it on Chocolate & Zucchini, and am glad to hear it's finally almost ready. Evidently you can pre-order it on Amazon.

I'm going to order it as soon as we get home from Paris.
Actually I use Ms. Mathiot’s boeuf Bourg. recipe and it is great.

Thanks for the link, CigaleChanta.
"Her stew’s painstaking multistep method — cooking all the vegetables separately, straining the sauce, etc. — has chefly fingerprints all over it."
I love the "chefly fingerprints" phrase. It certainly applies to Julia Child's coq au vin recipe, too. I thought it would never end!

Mimi - I thought I replied to this post but I now remember that it was at Fodor's.
Yeah, I'll try to get the original french version and make myself work twice as hard........ Then, I'll order the translation. Would be nice to have both.
Thanks, Mimi.

She is very right, boeuf bourguignon is a big classic of the cuisine ménagère and de bistrot, absolutely nothing sophisticated. Only in the past 10-20 (?) years have these kind of dishes become fashionable enough to make them socially acceptable for "formal" dinners with guests. But still, I believe that one should stick to the original spirit of the receipes and keep them simple.

To anyone who ordered this book:
I'm guessing you've had it for a while now, and am wondering if you've used it yet. If so, what did you think?
I made the vanilla soufflé from it last weekend and the recipe was suspect to me. The soufflé was ~meh~ ...
Anyone else have anything on the subject?
