We've decided on Les Hombres for our special treat while we are there. The view looks so great and the prices look much nicer than Jules Verne.

one response on chowhound so far: - "Le Grand Colbert", the beautiful brasserie in the movie "Something's got to give". www.legrandcolbert.fr/#- "Le Train Bleu". Read the wonderful book "Not a Station But a Place" by M.F.K. Fisher before going to this opulent historical place. www.le-train-bleu.com/uk/navigation.htm- "Lapérouse" equally historical and maybe more opulent, and has private salons. Rich men in the 19th century used to take their danseuses to supper in one of the private salons. The restaurant kept the mirrors all scratched up by the girls who were testing whether the newly offered diamond was real. No kidding. www.laperouse.fr/english/I like really Luc's idea! Beautiful view and within the budget...

I just got my new issue on France Today. In the restaurant review section they give a thumbs down to Laperouse. " Unbending service, and the new chef's unreconstucted nouvelle cuisin, lots of flowers, tiny portions and high prices, make it seem so."

Luv you happy but I gotta vote for Luc's choice...I think that they will be happier with the food at Les Ombres...sorry!! My Chowhounders let me down as we only got one response. But for what it's worth, I still rely on that site. I have had many a wonderful meal, literally all over the world, on the Chowhounds' recommendations. Several of the Paris posters are right on. (and as an aside, the Baltimore-based members of Chowhound formed a "dining group" about a year and a half ago. We met at a local restaurant, and the rest is history... we meet regularly to seek out dining "finds" in Baltimore. The people I met through Balimore/DC Chowhound are now some of my best friends. The internets is a wonderful thing!! ;D)
