Hello from Sweden! In october Me and my wife will for the first time go for a trip to Paris. My wife will be 50 and we will celebrate her birthday there without the twins and all our work, fantastic ! (though I will miss them after two hours... ,not the work ;D We will stay att paris Hôtel Résidence Europe in Clichy and would be much grateful if anyone could tip us of nice affordable places where to eat in Paris. I found out that there are several brasseries/retaurants/bistros that have such offer with all inclusive and would be grateful if anyone could recommend some. Thanks all in advance !

Hi and welcome, tore.
You might look into Chez Lucette,43 rue deLa Jonquiere, good cooking fromNormandy , and hardly a tourist in sight. A typical old time cafe complete with lace curtains!
You can also lunch or dine at the culinary school, Institut Vatel,122 rue NOllet.
The menu runs around 25 Euro and you'd pay twice that somewhere else. They offer a dessert cart that has at least 15 dessetrs daily.

If you like mussels, I'd recommend Clichy's Tavern on the north side of the street just before you get to the hardware store Castorama (near the corner of rue Forest). Wepler, one of Paris' most famous old-time bistros, is located right on place de Clichy. It's a bit expensive, but you can dine inexpensively there if you try. For Italian, you could try Fuxia next to the church at the north end of rue des Batignolles which is about a 10 minute walk. There used to be a restaurant of rue de Bruxelles (one block away and parallel to bd de Clichy) called Au Gourmet. It changed owners, but I think it has the same name and it's very popular with neighborhood regulars.

Welcome, Tore! Where are you in Sweden? My oldest daughter and her husband just moved to Stockholm from Strasbourg. She likes the long days of summer.
As for restaurants in the 17th, I don't have any suggestions right now but I am trying to get into La Bigarrade, 106 rue Nollet; tel. 01.42.26.01.02.

Hello Lilia ! I am living in the western part of Sweden, straight across the country about 400 km from Stockholm. I guess this summer has been wet for your doughter and her family as well, rain, rain, rain... I am grateful for all tips of restaurants in Paris. Thanks !!!

Lilia, I don't Bigarrade would fit into the budget. By the way, have you tried Hier et Aujourd'hui in the 17th?

Do the restaurants have to be in the 17? Bistro de Breteuil near the Tower has a 35 E, 3 course with wine. Les Ministeres in the 7th ,right on the edge of the 6th has the same. Gallopin, where we;ve had a few GTGs has menu from 19 to 36 Euro. The 36 E comes with a half bottle of wine per person

Doug, you are right. I just re-read John Talbott's article on La Bigarrade and as I understand, it is one of the most sought-after restaurants at the moment. Daniel Rose is one of the consultants for the restaurant; hence the similarity in the style of the dishes that are being served at Spring.
Tore, Le Clocher Perreire, 42 blvd. Perreire (near Place Wagram) in the 17th has a 30 euro lunch menu. Another one for your list.

tore,
Yes I've had dinner there and itwas very good. There were 6 of us and we all liked our meal. The surroundings are very lovely.
I think a group from this forum had a GTG there. In fact I think that is where I got the name.

We had two GTG lunches there actually : good food, good value, beautiful décor and friendly service. You can see on Jody's link that they have a 36€ menu which includes 3 courses and wine.
