I will soon be bringing my sister-in law (M.) and her daughter, my niece (L.) to Paris for their first visit. Making an itinerary turned out to be more depending that I expected! Did I forget something obvious? Do you have any ideas for lunches? All comments are welcome.

Le lundi 18 mai

Arrival at the apartment, unpacking, but no nap allowed! (8am to 9am)
Food shopping at Atac and Monoprix.
Get metro passes.
Go down rue de la Roquette to Place de la Bastille,
Visit Place des Vosges and l’hôtel de Sens (pause café )
Go down Blv Henri IV toward the Seine.
Ile St-Louis quai with the back view of Notre Dame.
Ile de la Cite.

(Depending how strong people feel: Notre Dame exterior and back home OR cross to métro Hôtel de ville –Louvre Rivoli.

Sit at the Tuileries for some rest.

Walk back home or metro.

Diner: Home Or Bistro Renaissance Or Brasserie Le Rez (all within 4 minutes walk)

The goal is to stay up as late as possible.

AM
Metro line 1 exit to see the Arc de Triomphe (I drink a coffee they go up!)
Down the Champs-Élysées (Au soleil, sous la pluie, à midi ou a minuit..).
Tuileries –Louvre exterior and rue de Rivoli
Notre Dame interior (they can go up the towers, I will drink a coffee) .
Salon thé Mariage Frères

Bateau mouche daytime tour (Vedettes du pont Neuf)

PM
Musée Carnavalet. (1 to 12 hours according to taste!)
A bit of the Marais and the Islands (according to time left)
Diner on rue de la Roquette or near the house because they go early tomorrow morning

TGV to Strasbourg for M and L..
Meeting friends and diner with friends for me.

Le jeudi 21 mai

AM
Return from Strasbourg meeting M and L at home at 11am

Père Lachaise or a conference tour from Pariscope?
Diner at Train Bleu with friends.

Le vendredi 22 mai

AM
Metro ligne 9 to Tour Eiffel direct ride exit Trocadéro (spend about 2 hrs )
Jardin du Luxembourg, Saint- Germain visit the church
Deux magots for a drink and break..
Rue du Cherche-Midi and rue de Rennes for some shopping.
Late lunch chez Nemrod

Return to home for rest.
Louvre en nocturne from 6 pm

I think that the view from Beaubourg is very nice so time permitting...

I prefer the Richard Lenoir market on Sundays but you've grouped a lot around Mouffetard so I guess that's better. Skip one of those coffees and have a wine!!

Jody, Richard-Lenoir is right out our door and it is my prefered market, but I want them to see something different and I think that the musette on a Sunday morning is really fun. I was also thinking of Portes de Vanves flea market...so many options and so few days!

Anne, I intend to use shopping as a bargaining tool: "You can shop or you can visit a magnifiant medieval chapel...you decide!" More seriously all three of us understand that the list is only a guide, and since they never been to Paris they will decide once they are there.

For Strasbourg they leave Paris on the 1st morning TGV and will return the next morning, their hotel is between the gare and the Cathedral, I don't think they have anything planned they just wanted a change and also trying the TGV.

If you do Monceau, I'd recommend Millisimes for lunch. It's just about 2 blocks up avenue de Courcelles from the park. Very stylish, excellent traditional bistro, very friendly, jam packed at lunch with locals (went there 5 times during the last trip).

Luc,, I am just wondering, on the first tues am plan,, maybe if you reverse the order and start at the Towers at Notre Dame it might be better, the lines there can be so long, and moves so slowly,, it really may pay to go there first, before it opens even,, and get that out of the way,, the rest of the day would then flow better don't you think( or do you have an insider tip I have missed?)..
