Imagine Shlomo's relief when he finally found a station....... but it turned out to be self-service, and it wouldn't take our credit card !.....Lesson learned: never let your gas tank get too low. Shoesy, This happened to us several times last summer. In fact, we truly were on "Empty" in Amboise before we found a kind soul who helped us out by using their card to let us get gas, which we repaid in cash. As to the GPS, had we followed my DH's on a recent trip through Virginia, we would have ended up in Washington, DC rather than our intended desitination of Monticello. I follow maps ALL THE TIME. Love my Michelins. Of course, I would still get up to turn the channel on the TV and roll down my own car windowm given the choice. Burns one or two calories, as well, a positive side effect... ;D KH

Gitte, I have to say that I get you and your sense of humor. I'm amused at your reprimands for those of us who do things the "wrong way," even when they're aimed at me. I just LOL. ;D I think it's part of your charm! I, too, am a map girl. I like to walk. I drive a stick shift. These kinds of things give me a sense of initmacy with, as well as mastering of, my surroundings and there is a certain pleasure in that. Gadgets get in the way for me -- even if they can make life more efficient. I travel (ouside US) without a cell phone or laptop and I like it!
