So my work busy season is in full swing (I'm an auditor for Not-For-Profits) and I haven't been on much but I haven't disappeared! On top of work, poor Tarzan has been really sick so I have been spending time with him when I can and studying for my CPA exam. Just wanted to check in with my friends here!

Oh, and our house flooded during a bad storm a few weeks ago so we are working to fix that.
When it rains it pours..literally and figuratively.

Oh my, Willow--you are up to your ears! You'll be in my thoughts. Thru it all, just remember you'll be in Paris in December!

Sorry to hear about that flood, Willow, and about poor "little" Tarzan's illness. Good luck on your exam, and think Paris.

Thanks all for the well wishes. Unfortunately Tarzan took a turn for the worst, and we ended up putting him to sleep yesterday evening. I am utterly heartbroken and at a loss of what to do. He was only a few days short of his eight birthday... Rest in peace my sweet boy, my big monster, my little baby Tarzan. You will be sorely missed. October 10, 2000 to October 6, 2008

Dear Willow,
My profound sympathy to you. I have been in the same position of putting a dear pet to sleep so I know the emotions you are going through right now. You feel completely lost and just don't know what to do with your life. Our little companions are so much a part of our life and our daily routines that when they are gone from our lives, it is a very difficult adjustment. I'll say a prayer for his little soul and will keep you in my prayers as well for strength and guidance. I am so sorry to hear your sad news.

Willow - My heart aches for you. I'm so so so sorry to hear about your sweet doggy. I'm sure you're aware of the fact that I fell in love with him the first time I saw his picture.

My heart is aching for you too...only 8 years...my beloved "nephew" Burke was only 8 when diagnosed with brain cancer. ( he was a magnificent golden retriever/black lab mix) He managed a happy, if not healthy year and a half after that. My niece has now adopted/rescued a wonderful greyhound..but I still miss Burke and our couple of weekends together when my niece was out of town! He was a fine outdoor dinner partner! Tarzan was a beautiful fellow....and I'm sure a great dog and friend.

Willow-my hearts aches with you. I know what it's like to lose your best bud. This is the only thing that keep me sane after my Freddie cat (17 years old) went for the big sleep. I still miss him 11 years later.
----- Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Willow, I am so very sorry to hear about adorable Tarzan's plight and I know you will miss him sorely. I still recall my little Toto (cairne terrier) whom I lost years ago, but she was a special part of my life as Tarzan will always be for you. That memory of Tarzan you can cherish..but oh, I know you wish Tarzan's time with you was so much longer! Flooding too? Oy! So a major storm then in Chicago!? Oy! I want to thank you for your travel tips for Chicago, speaking of! I truly appreciated your tips and very much enjoyed Chicago, especially Lake Michigan and the Institute of Art! Again, my thoughts are with you ...sigh....

Willow,
The tears are flowing as I type. He was a beautiful friend and you will hold him in your heart forever. I still think of all my furry friends stretching back for decades. And, I try not to watch my current ones for the inevitable signs of aging.
But be brave.
Fondly, Holger
