- but I hope I do not yet "face the final curtain" ! Only 4 more sleeps and Tuesday at 10:10 I will be on AirFrance, bound for you-know-where ! Today was my last workingday, and guess who was foolish enough to offer to her boss to take the work cellphone with her to Paris ?? We did agree that I should not have it switched on 24/7, but just so that my boss could leave me a message to call back, if he got in trouble. Good starting point for a pay-raise discussion, n'est-ce pas ? So only a few more clothes to be ironed this weekend - and a lot of deliberations to be made as to packing, because the weather forecasts say "dry, sunny and summery" next week - but can one trust this to last ?? CLICK TO BEHOLD AND TURN GREEN WITH ENVYThen to print out my LOOOONG "to-do" lists and most important: the restaurant list ! And the tickets and booking confirmations for our girlie weekend on 13. - 14. September when we'll meet: framboiseetrose - coming in from the US anne266 - taking the TGV in from Alsace geordy - another merry American in Paris parisbound - travelling all the way from Australia Megan - our darling ex-pat Kiwi coming over from London phread - the lucky ducky who actually LIVES in Paris Will get back to you when arrived and settled in Paris ! I have been waiting for this stay for so long, it almost feels unreal that NOW is the time.

Well..not jealous of the weather..NYC weather has been superb this week..but my God all that time in Paris!!! ( That I am geen eyed about. Though I will savour my 7 nites! Had my request for "advanced leave" formally approved(WE'VE all known I was going since whenever ) today so I'm on count down too! What do you iron to take? Most of the stuff I pack is the kind of things you don't really need to iron?

Gitte,
If the forecast holds true, you will sure have some fabulous weather! I'll keep my fingers crossed that all your days there are sunny and beautiful - have a great time. I'll be thinking of all of you on the 13th & 14th.

I can't believe it is almost here - - - I fly Air France on September 10, arriving before noon at CDG the next day with Geordy and GraceJoan. That weekend of the 13th-14th promises to be one of the best - will Paris survive this group?
Paris' weather is normally great at this time of the year and this year has been delivering a great one - not so warm and yet not cold like last year.
Gitte, promise to scout the great places to eat for us. Remember, we have a date to do Pierre Herme one day! Have a safe trip and see you at the metro station in 3 weeks.

Yippee, Gitte! Just a few more days, but I don't know how you can think of ironing when such a trip awaits. Anyway, enjoy these pre-Paris moments, but most important, enjoy all those delicious days you're in Paris. ;D Hey......Make sure your boss doesn't bother you too much while you're away. You're not supposed to have work on your mind when you're in Paris , unless of course your job actually sent you there. ( I'm thinking of you, of course, Sunshine ! ) One more thing.........don't forget to pack all your ECCOS. I'm sure you're going to do a lot of walking in that wonderful weather that has been predicted.

Well, I guess one is entitled to iron whatever one pleases, but as far as I'm concerned, a lady's traveling clothes do not require ironing!

Gitte, how many times do I need to remind you that I don't live in Alsace anymore ! I will take the TGV from Lorraine (which actually accounts for a shorter trip ) I don't remember exactly where you will be staying this time : is it rue JB Pigalle or was this last time appartment ? You know, this is just in case I need to ring at your door begging for a shelter because something went wrong with my B&B booking ;D ... I'll check the Sunday brasserie early Sept . Have a great trip and we are all looking forward to reading your fabulous trip reports ! And yes, all clothes (whether for travelling or not) do need ironing ...

Yeah, I will finally get to read a great trip report in real time! I've spend so many hours reading Gitte's and so many other lovely members of this board that I feel like I am beginning to know some of you. I've loved catching up on the reports and I have so many post it notes with suggestions and comments that I am set for my next 10 trips to Paris! This is such a great board and there is so much knowledge and experience, not to mention humour, kindness, and generousity of spirit in sharing all your experiences.
Gitte, have a wonderful trip, can't wait to read about it and see your beautiful pictures (thank goodness I'm taking the laptop to Disney with us, I'll be able to keep up with your adventures while the grandson is sleeping off his days with Mickey). To those joining Gitte on the 13/14, tear up that town and have the time of your lives (which I'm sure you will and you don't need me telling you that!)
Bon voyage!!

I suspect the ironing is part of a "pre-trip" ritual or tradition! And your clothes don't have to spend as many hours in the suitcase developing their "packing" creases! Maybe I iron a scarf or two?? I have to fore go some of my pre-trip traditions(getting in the French zone from the minute I leave the office the day before, packing the day of with an 11:00AMglass of bubbly(the guide at Veuve Cliquot said it was the best time to taste Champagne..who am I to argue? )while listening to French music, etc..,.....I'm working part of the day I leave to avoid asking for the additional advance day....not too bad if I had the one of the late flights(after 9pm or later) but mine is 6PM! So I'll be arriving rumpled and harried...but still glowing!

Gitte, I hope you have a good trip. I'm officially jealous that you'll be in Paris for so long. I can only manage 4 nights this year. 18th -22nd. Maybe we'll pass each other, or will you be back home by then? I'm staying in Montmartre as thanks to you and your advise I decided against changing my accomodation to elswhere. Montmartre sounds charming when you describe it. Thanks again, and I do hope you have a ball when you meet up with the rest of the girls. Paris won't know whats hit it, lol!! Look forward to your trip report at the end of next month sometime.

Thanks everyone !! Ell69, the tripreports will be posted on a daily basis, as they are my evening passtime in the apartment, enjoying a nice glass of something and sharing the day's experiences with all you great guys.
Suitcase nearly done (overdone, actually) !! Lots of new crime novels packed to read in cafés while sipping Sancerre, sucking up the warm sun, enjoying all those Paris noises and goings-on which we cherish so much.
