Eeewww! 'hidden pollutants' - the mind boggles I was told by a bossy pool attendant in SOFrance that men were asked to wear speedos as they would not have worn them anywhere else, unlike the baggy shorts type which some folks wear on holiday/sit in cafes etc then also wear in a pool. They has so many rules and regulations - no fun. Speedos are just so ....ugly - for the majority anyway. Sorry! Thanks for the info - intend to try it out in August.

I know it's been said a number of times before, but here goes........ The things one can learn on this forum! I now know what "andouillettes" are, and as for the notion of "hidden pollution", let's just say that I'm starting to get the hang of it. ;D

The "logic" is probably as Lily describes but how many folks wander around Paris is shorts they would swim in? I can seeing running/jogging along the beach in running shorts and then jumping in the ocean or your own backyard pool..but to go to a public pool??? And who is to say every speedo is fresh and clean!!! Nah...Sis is right...they just want to parade around in the speedos...for SOME reason!!! And I guess TMI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel the need to come to the rescue of the much-maligned banana hammock. Personally, I'd like to see more guys wearing them (especially, if I could personally choose each individual and somehow manage to screen out all the others).

I've been away for a few days and I can see that some of you seem to be getting carried away on this subject. I hate to be the barer of bad news but there is little to no hope of seeing sexy young men in speedos at a Parisian pool. There are plenty of sexy men around but, unfortunately, the Mairie de Paris insists on all swimmers wearing a bathing cap (even TFMLN who is completely bald has to wear one) and I defy anyone to show me a man who can look sexy wearing a bathing cap...
You might be interested to know that these rules aren't actually strictly applied to everyone. I'm a member of a scuba diving club that uses a public pool and the normal rules of dress don't apply during club sessions. As far as I can work out, the only one that seems to stick all of the time is 'no undressing outside of the cabins in mixed changing rooms' (and there are some people in the club who don't even pay attention to that one all of the time)

LN - Au contraire! If the guys need to wear those ridiculous-looking bathing caps, then everyone's attention will immediately be drawn down yonder , so the only focus will be on the sexy image created by those Speedos.

Errr..when in Nice..viewing the beach scene...with some of the bellys you could play "find the speedo!"

Eeewww, geordy. THAT doesn't give such a good mental image I guess I'll stay in the dark about what "hidden pollution" those nice swim trunks are hiding. Not sure I want to know anyway.

Oh my...I hadn't really looked at this thread since I am not a swimmer nor do I really enjoy public pools...but little did I know what else was going on in here! This is my lesson: Don't judge a thread by it's title!

I, the guardian of forum morals, go away for 2 days to the midnight sun in Bergen - and what does one come home to ? Sodom and Gomorrah..... You ladies are the WORST company for innocent souls like our poor Anna, whom her family expects to be a nice Polish girl ! No nice Polish boy will ever marry you, babywillow, if you keep hanging around this forum ! All you can ever hope to get now is a slick Parisian millionaire of très dubious character (you know the sort who serves you champagne for breakfast and insists that you wear pink-silk-500-euro-picnic-knickers..... ;D) Re. speedos........ look, even our Canadian friends are known to parade around in those lycra-thingies ! Does anyone recognize board member Luc in this crowd ? www.torontosantaspeedorun.com/
