Gitte, silk (undies or gloves or whatever) is said to be one of the most effective existing warm-keeper . And as far as undies are concerned, well, the fantasy possibilities are a little wider with silk than with wool (and it's less itchy too ...) .

I've been wearing my silks the entire week. Today I even organized to farm out my girls for Monday and Tuesday, just so that we won't have to ride our bikes to their school in these freezing temps.
Thought for the day... Christmas in Marrakesh.

All this talk of frozen popos gets me wondering why it's my footsies that freeze when I'm cold, and not my popo. Don't any of you feel cold on your feet? Even though it hasn't gotten cold here yet, I've started to sleep with my socks on.

Shoesy I have a saying........"If my feet are cold then so is the rest of my body". If it's just my hands that are cold its not so bad. Having said all this, I am terrible for walking around everywhere with bare feet summer- winter, even outside!

Shoesy, (& Gitte) that's where the wool comes in handy--the socks! Muffya, sorry to hear you're not feeling too wonderful

Well, it's a new day today, and I have 3 thoughts right now: 1. Andi and the rest of England must be ecstatic over Israel's victory against Russia last night, enabling England to qualify for...... whatever that is. ;D 2. I hope poor Muffya feels better with her kidney stone ailment. 3. Why oh why did I allow myself to pig out over the week-end?

2 thought for the day -
I help solicit, purchase and load 350 donated frozen turkeys into a a St Anthony's Dining Room truck for 7 hours today and didn't notice the cold. Hungry people will have at least a Thanksgiving dinner next Thursday.
Although you cannot stop the birds of worry from flying over your head, you CAN prevent them from making bird nests in your hair.

Heated floors!! No wonder you don't complain about the cold!!! And you try to make the rest of us out to be whimps...I live on the first floor, right above the basement and when the heat is not on and the floor is cold it is COLD!!!!! Thought of the day....why do I always have totally useless, annoying , noisy, upstairs neighbors!!!!! My bathroom....which I cleaned yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! is now flooded with water coming thru the ceiling and light fixture from upstairs..I ran up there and she says "I think a pipe exploded..I guess YOU should call the super?" ARG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I avoid socks for as long as I can!!!!

Muffya, I have had a KS, so I know you are in lots of pain, sorry. They suck. Geordy, I do not think your living conditions are ideal,, but then when I read Randys post I realize how lucky we all are.
Now my real thought of the day.
Americans have their Thanksgiving too close to Christmas.! Ours was last month, so we ate lots of turkey and stuffing and get almost two months to digest that huge feast before Christmas, I have always thought it must be a drag to have Thanksgiving so close to Xmas as now they don't look forward to another turkey dinner so soon. ( I have even heard that Xmas has become less special because of this, and that most people will now choose TG over Xmas as a holiday to come home for a feast)

Muffya, My husband had kidney stones last year and it was not fun. He ended up with a stent and the blasting procedure. We went to Paris right after that and he was still not 100%. I don't think I realized how bad kidney stones can be until going this ordeal with him. Since you are female I'm sure you are handling it alot better. LOL Hope you feel betters oon.

My husband has a rare cancer and now after a year's remission he is not well but waiting for results of the latest Cat scan. My advice to you all by", way of Eleanor Roosevelt.

My thought for the weekend (and every weekend since August):
Why is football season so freaking long?
(Sorry my thought is so lame. 48 straight hours of football will do that to a person)
