This is off-topic, non-Paris-related, and totally personal--but I just have to shout from the rooftops that I'm going to be a grandma! ;D ;D ;D My oldest daughter and her husband just announced, and we are thrilled!

Paris does have the most lovely children's shops. One of my earliest observations was the fact that the children were all dreesed so adorably. There is a nice shop just around the corner from Rue Cler where I got some really soft little things for my future grandson 2 years ago. If you are wandering around there you will surely find it. Too bad the exchange rate is so bad. I'm going to have to keep my shopping to a minimum this trip. Oh, I think the baby shop is across from that hotel Champ Du Mars.

Annette - Your news is wonderful, and for you I'm sure it's more exciting than a trip to Paris! You're going to be such a young grandma. Suzanne - Congratulations to you too.

I agree that shopping for baby clothes and toys can be so much fun. When my kids were babies, we didn't have such a selection to choose from. Come to think of it, we didn't even have disposable diapers! Anyway, keep in mind the fact that babies are adorable no matter what they wear, and when they're naked, you get to see the cutest little popos imaginable. ;D

I feel very happy for you Annette Even though it slightly depresses me to think that someone only three years older than me can be a grandma : it means that I am getting very close to the grandma generation Well, let's talk about nice things again : shopping ! Baby and children clothes are quite expensive in France compared to UK for example, but of course you HAVE to bring things back from Paris for the baby . You may like Cyrillus' baby clothes : very classical "French chic" style clothes . And they have shops throughout Paris and France : www.cyrillus.fr/bebe/rwcm/c-b.aspx

Congratulations ,, being a grandma is bound to be more fun then being the mother of teenagers.. Babies are so sweet and as a grandma you can have all the fun, and be the " good guy" and then hand them bad to mommy and daddy.
I also LOVE shopping for babies clothes, and that is very odd, since normally I consider shopping a chore. Babies clothes are so adorable! I would love to be a grandmother, but not for another 10 yrs at least!

I am totally with you Joan (especially since my eldest daughter is only 16, so a baby soon would mean serious trouble ...) Annette, unless your daughter is already very pregnant, I assume that you won't know yet whether the baby will be a boy or a girl for your next trip ... What a shame for the shopping ! I agree Gitte, Tartine et Chocolat sells lovely stuff, just be aware that they are very expensive .

Gitte - I checked out the collection of clothes for babies and children in the link that you posted, and they are out of this world, but even more gorgeous are those little models themselves. What a bunch of beautiful kids!!!

Many congratulations Annette ;D, I was made a Nana at the age of 33 (grandma is a word I won't allow until I am in my 70's ) It is truly a wonderful experience and for those of you who know, a totally different kind of love than that you feel for your own children . For some strange reason you want to protect and guide them even more than normal . Many of you will know that we took our grandson to Paris when he was just 18mths old, a perfect way to start his passion! Blake is now 3 and a half so will be ready for another trip in the next year or so . Annette you will have so much fun and don't let anyone fool you by saying you can love them and hand them back.........our little one loves coming round so much, he refuses to go home most of the time LOL

Congratulations!! I can't imagine...I'm not a Mother!! But my sister who raised her girls in Alaska(!) and was planning on retiring in the Northwest(Washinton , Oregon) with her husband, was widowed and instead of moving back here to NY/NJ area where her one daughter lives and the rest of our extended family, moved to Virginia to be near her other daughter and the GRANDKIDS!!! They live walking distance from each other and she spends a lot of time with them! Again...enjoy this happy time!

Not that I don't adore my little grandsons but those little girl things are so sweet. This will be baby number three for my 29 year old son. I think thye are done. so I still have hopes for a girl from my 31 year old daughter and her hubby. They have the travel bug, so I think they have been postponing parenthood, which is ok too. My 25 year old son is not in the least bit interested in family matters at the moment.
At any rate, my sister called to brag on Friday. Her daughter is due in March and is having a girl.
