I wanted to let all of you who asked me to post.. of my safe return home. My flight appeared to be on schedule...until we boarded and then were told we had to wait ten mins for 30 more passengers...and then that 10 mins...turned into another 10 mins...until finally take-off an hr later. With all that said...Air France IMO is the BOMB!! Well...for all of you unfamiliar with American "youth slang" that means the BEST! The staff both coming and going, were so pleasant and accommodating ...and you get two meals with wine or champagne ...digestifs...included at no extra charge!!

Welcome Back Tre! Hope that the PPD (Post Paris Depression) won't hit TOO hard. Glad you had a nice flight - although in these crazy big brother times, you might be asking for trouble to mention the name of an airline and the word BOMB in the same sentence - you never know who might take it the wrong way!

I think I know why you're not really all that upset about the delay - it meant that you got to stay in "Paris" (well, France anyway) for another hour . . . .
Welcome back, and have fun planning the next trip (which, I see in your apartment review, you already are doing!)

I'm very happy to see you made it home safely, Tre. I'm glad to hear you had a good flight, and that you were satisfied with the service you got on Air France. Now perhaps you can relax a bit and remember all the wonderful things you loved about Paris.

Welcome home, Trechic . It is so nice that you had such a wonderful time in Paris . As far as Air France is concerned, well, I am not so enthusiastic ...

Me neither. I've flown AF before, just never noticed anything special. Maybe I slept through the good stuff...anyway, I'm glad you got home safe tre. I always find that the second day after I'm home, the jet lag hit viciously. See what you think. And know that we're all here to get you through your next sure illness...a tragic case of PPD. ;D

Thanks, All!! Sis...that was hilarious! Well, I booked my flight thru Delta...so not sure if they have had something to do with the great service. But, have you flown AA these days??? OMG. I have boycotted them. If they are my only option to get somewhere I just won't go! I also had a deplorable experience on United. So, I don't know...this was way above the rest as far as I am concerned. Actually service with a smile! Imagine that???!!

Just looking out for you, Tre! Wouldn't want you to get on some NO FLY list - then you wouldn't be able to go back to Paris!!!!
You KNOW that you will start pining for another trip soon, right!? Remember that we've all been through PPD. We'll all help you through...

trechic -
I just flew Air France from San Francisco to Paris, Paris to Moscow, St. Petersburg to Paris and Paris to San Francisco. It was a good flight on all legs (no, not the flight attendants).

Well...I actually thought the flight attendents were quite adorable. I thought perhaps there was a requirement that must be met before they got hired! Can you guess what it is??

BTW - there are many posted remedies for PPD. If you are unable to find them, get back to me and I will share my list. I have had PPD 6 times so I think I now have a handle on it.

welcome back. I fly AF because it's the only one that goes direct from Boston to Paris.

I think this forum is the second-best remedy for PPD. The first, of course, is to plan your next trip. ;D

I like AF because you get that French feeling from the start of your trip! Also like the free wine, champagne, etc. If I'm paying for a glass of wine in a bar I'm partially paying for ambiance..not so in coach!!!! And the bubbly signifies the beginning of the trip! Also like the French flicks. They seem to have the "best' faacilities at CDG. And good routes..their flying time NYC to Paris seem to be shorter than other airlines. As to the food...I find there is always enough that is enjoyable enough. And at least the containers they use keep it hot and not too crispy aka"dried out/burnt" like the loose foil some use!

Randy, we might be interested in seeing your remedy list anyway. A person can use as many remedies as possible!

Welcome home. Thanks for all of your fantastic reports. I am so bad about keeping track of where I am and remembering the names of places. I really appreciate your due diligence. A friend of mine carries a small tape recorder in her pocket and keeps a commentary of her trips that way. Her husband passed away in July. She told me that she sat down with a glass of wine and listened to the tapes she made in Paris recently. She said it was so wonderful hearing them talking to one another as they walked around Paris. I think I might try that next trip. although I never did get the pedomitor to work, still can't program the VCR or post pictures on this website. We'll see.

For PPD I can recommend the following:
Stay at Cornell Hotel De France in San Francisco with posters of Modigliani, Matisse, Chagall, Gaughin and Toulouse Latrec in the hallways and rooms. There is authentic French lift that works and holds 1 ½ people. Dinner at Jeanne D’Arc
Drop in to Café Claude or Café De La Presse for lunch/dinner.
A nearby restaurant is The Left Bank.
Put on Edith Piaf tapes or other music of France
Read and post on Our Paris
Connect with people who have returned from France or are on their way to France.
Stop in at the French Consulate for any recent information and any new literature.
Surf the web on Paris, France, any region, city, etc.
Visit Barnes & Noble and Borders (large book stores) They have excellent sections on Paris.
See French movies. I’m afraid my movies (1960 -) do date me a bit: The Red Balloon and Don’t Shoot the Piano Player. Paris J’aime, Amelie and Chocolat have also worked for me. There are many movies to see filmed in Paris.
Take home croissants from your local bakery – the aroma and taste might help. My favorite in San Francisco is Tartine Bakery.
Planning your next trip to Paris is a good antidote for PPD.
Go to Las Vegas and stay and eat at The Paris Hotel Las Vegas
We have a very large museum in San Francisco –The Museum of the Legion of Honor (looks just like the one in Paris; was given to the US by France in the early 1900’s). The French Impressionist Collection is outstanding. When I am really feeling PPD, I go up there for a looong visit.
At home I am constantly reminded of Paris with the following:
In addition to an Ansel Adams photograph in my office, all I have to do is look up and I have a large matted and framedMonet print right behind my computer.
The dining room has a painting I bought in Monmatre about 5 years ago, numerous framed & matted posters and prints, including a large one of Monmartre Staircase by Eugene Atget.
The living room has 3 small watercolors that I bought over a 3 year period from the same female street artist across from the Louvre.
I added a small painting in October from a street vendor near the D’Orsay depicting les bouquinistas and Notre Dame.
This is my short list, I hope it is helpful.
