Yes, Happy Birthday to you, Gitte. You are so fun to read and have so much wisdom for all of us. I love the fact that you're always coming up with those out of the way little parks and places in Paris! Sounds like you made a HUGE HAUL for your birthday. You must be a very good little girl!!! Enjoy!

Gitte, is the "12 years minus 1 day to early retirement" birthday a big, big deal in Denmark as it is in Norway and Sweden?

3 bottles of champagne, several bottles of good redwine, 2 giftvouchers for beauty-and-wellness parlors (should I see some hidden message in those ??), I would be more worried about all those alcoholic presents.... it seems your friends are well aware of your drinkink habits, and still encouraging it. I`m glad you had such a great time. Where´s that hotel? When are you going?

merci merci !! Sandy, I don't really know what to say about your expression "drinking habits"........... The gift voucher is for a Danish travelagency and is for a range of hotels in DK, Norway, Sweden, Germany, Netherlands etc. to pick at your will. If the amount of the voucher isn't quite enough to cover your choice, then of course you can pay some extra yourself. I think we will save it for April and go to Holland to see the tulipfields in blossom, I always wanted that. The northern and western part of Holland is very, very beautiful with the cutest villages, pretty houses, windmills and canals - like nothing else in the world.

Sorry Gitte, I didn´t mean to offend you, it was a joke. I should have added those smilies before.

Thanks Truffaut and randy !! I am slowly getting used to the ideas of no longer being in my "late fourties" - and I am trying to make up new ways of avoiding housework with reference to my advanced age, frail condition and failing memory as an elderly lady........ ;D I keep forgetting where we keep the vacuum cleaner, for instance, which is now perfectly legitimate ! ;D

Gitte - Now be careful that you don't let your loved ones think you're too old and frail because they might object to your traveling to Paris solo and staying in that hilly Montmartre.

Gitte, If I hear you complain about being old one more time(as I'm still a spring chicken anyone younger than me is just a kid!) I'm just going to have to go over there and have a strict talk with you at the Fried fish cake thingy place over a few brews!!! Then proceed to duck and pointed cabbage with a "bit" of wine!! Whatever it takes to straighten this out! Except helping you find the vacumn!
