He, I think-a carved popeye on a red rocket- hangs in the Musee Arts des Forains...just wish I could use it -the red rocket- to get to Paris. But this board certainly helps! Yes I was using the IMG not the URL...so thanks to you also.

Ok guys, am I crazy or what, I just googled " Moleskin amazon" to see exactly what you are all talking about,, but , it seems a notebook from the dollar store would do just fine...
am I missing something here?

It took me while to get to the Moleskin Paris City Guide. Otherwise I kept getting their notebooks which are totally blank. The City Guides are for a few cities including Paris and hve built in maps with overlays you can write on and tabbs for special sections. When mine arrives in the next few days or so, I can post the listing number.

They are so popular. I bought a Paris one, have my London one on back order and had to buy my NY one from Amazon UK because they don't stock the NY one here in Sydney and Amazon US go through a 3rd party supplier that doesn't post internationally! Talk about making life hard.

Thanks for that link, Becky. I'm going to order one because that means I'll have to go back to Paris soon to try it out

I'm thinking I may order for NYC and also London, just because it would be so handy to have information pulled together (especially NYC, as I only go there on business and don't want to waste what little "fun" time I manage to squeeze in along the way). Does anyone have negative comments about either London or NYC versions?

Sistereurope - according to the forum calendar, the question is when is GM coming back, not when is she going! ;D

MOLESKINE WITH AN E ON THE END. I think it is really cool. When I first got it...I was like ummm...ok....but once I started putting info in it, I fell for it completely. And then while I am there in Paris, I can make notes about what restaurant I just ate in and what I had - so in essence it is really MY own Paris City Guidebook!

I just clicked on the Amazon link Becky offered up above, and they are only $13.95!! It is so worth it guys....just do it. I got mine from a company in the UK and paid $45 for it...plus shipping. I knew I paid double for it...but I wanted it and it wasn't available in the US at the time - not that I could find anyway. I still think it was worth every cent. Enjoy!

Mine just came. Now I have to start deciding what to put where. Think I will need to move very, very carefully in order not to make mistakes. Would hate to mar the pristine condition with scribbling and scratching out. i do have the feeling that the general travel one might be easier for our non Paris excursions. But we shall see.
My only criticism of the Paris City Guide is the small and light type on the printed street pages.
In addition, I have a small fancy notebook for my journal and observations which I will keep separately from the guides. That I can leave at the hotels and just write in each night. Husband has not yet decided what he will do.

I'll await more comments and hold off on moleskines for now. Tried to actually check them out at Barnes and Noble but no. I bought a little green Plan de Paris last trip and have a little journal book working...so the post its, lists, and clippings will have to do for this next trip! 58 sleeps but who's counting!?/

Holger, I agree, I think they are made for people with "young" eyes or implants or something.
I always overplan and always have my red or black moleskine plain notebook for notes, glue-ins etc. But for day to day, I use the mappy pages and the metro point to point site. I print out our route with alternates, then organize the day with lunch choices at different stops etc. Then I put each day in one of those plastic envelope open top type bits so if it is raining the computer ink won't tun. I always have the day's metro lines etc on top. AS we progress through the day, I fold up the pages and tuck them in the back. Everything is large enough for me to read and I also have it all cross-referenced in my L'Indispensable. Last trip I had 14 of these, plus a folder of must do's, optional restos, etc. All this is much too large for a moleskine. But I generally don't have to stop and open a map book, I just glance at the plastic packet for the day to see where I am.
Well, maybe I am a bit over-organized.

I forgot to mention, the transparent sheets in the notebook have to be used either with pencil or permanent pens such as a Pilot Drawing Pen - if you don't any other pen type doesn't dry and easily (and messily!) rubs off.

Thanks for the tip about the pen or pencil to use. That will be useful to know what to take.
