I really can't say why Pere Lachaise doesn't interest me - I know of at least some of the many famous/great people who are buried there, but still. Yet, I really love going to Westminster Abbey in London, which is not that different (although I suppose that's closer to St Denis than to Pere Lachaise).

Conciergerie - i really did not enjoy this, there was really not much there. but its next to st chapelle, and when you've got a museum pass.. i guess you use it.
Brasserie Lipp - we ate there once and I asked for coca cola.....oh my goodness, the reaction of the waiter, he turned his nose up and said we do not serve "soda"! like it was sacrilige to even think they would serve such a drink! it was highly amusing! the food was average, i know its meant to be an institution, but i wouldn't go back. GitteK - i think we encountered the same waiter! he manned the outside tables!
catacombs - went the 2nd time i was in paris, at the time i was so desperate to see it....once you've seen one stack of bones, you've seen them all! i wouldn't take anyone there.
Champs Elysee - really losing its lustre, so many scruffy people at night. not as enjoyable to walk down in the evening as it was in 2000.

I could not be bothered to see the sewers or Moulin Rouge. Oh yes, what a disappointment the Pantheon in Paris was - unlike the one in Rome that was way more interesting and older.

Welcome, ladyjicky. Seems the sewers and Moulin Roge are at the top of the don't do list There is a section where you can introduce yourself and learn about your fellow Paris addicts, so when you have the time , look it over and get to know us better. Looking forward to more posts so you can share your special places or ask questions

Here I am, and I was just about to comment on that little cutie-pie of yours, ladyjicky, when I read Gitte's post. I guess I'm very predictable when it comes to doggies. ;D
And you have a warm welcome from me too. (I've already welcomed you in a private message, though you may not have seen it yet.)

Have any of you READ Les Miserables!!! (Sis have your daughter try that next!) After all those pages of sewers, Jean Valjean carrying Marius, etc. It was a MUST!!! ;D
Truly, after the popularity of the show Les Miz, is when they started the tours again/or they became popular(?)

No, in English. I once had a weird boss(well actually I've had several) who when I ran into him in the elevator at lunchtime and he saw I had Proust's "Remembrance of Thing Past' (as it was translated then) said "Oh my favorite book..are you reading it in French??" (obviously not..the title??? , but I said he was weird!) I said No, I'm lucky to be getting through in English!!! But Les Miz is very good. Now James Joyce's Ulysses is another matter....
