Dep - Once again I'd like to emphasize that you don't have any real reason to stress. When I was in Paris, I always felt free to ask people questions, and I never felt like I couldn't get along because of my lousy French. I played it by ear a lot, and I was fine. You will be more than fine.

I second what Shoesy said. You need to relax. You'll be fine...better than fine, actually. You're going to surprise yourself at how easy things are once you get there.

NO problem dep, remember one other thing.,, don't over personalize any negative experience. What I mean is, if you encounter a grumpy waiter,, don't assume it is because YOU are the problem, your" french is not good enough, you didn't order correctly, you are an American" , etc ,, it could just be his wife just left him, or may be he is an *sshole all the time to everyone! LOL I think the thought "I am in Paris" will really pull you through, everything that happens is an adventure, and some of the best stories are of getting lost, or getting yelled at , ( NOT that that will happen to you) so just tell yourself when you encounter any glitch, " this will make a good story! " . LOL
I am very envious of all our members who are off soon, and I would trade places with any of you , no matter what the circumstances, just to be back in Paris right now!
Have fun,,, its Paris and you will soon be walking the streets that kings and queens have trodden on, as well as a peasant worker who build Notre Dame, well before safety ropes and painkillers were invented! LOL

Hey Joan - You're not allowed to be envious. You were just there during the summer. Think of us poor folks who haven't been there in over a year.

Oh I know you are right Shoesy, but that does seem so long ago! What is funny is the more often you go, the more often you crave to go. I went almost 8 or 9 years between trips once( kids were babies) and it seemed not too bad, but now, I read reports of others going every 6 months and I am so envious... even though I get to go again next July!!! Spoiled by my Paris addiction I guess. LOL
