Wasn't quite sure where to post this. Question what is your dream (for Paris). Mine overall is simple. Have enough money to rent an apartment for at least a month and just wandering the street finding boulangerie, patisserie, frommage shops, etc.

If I ever decide I need a tattoo, an Eiffel Tower just might be my choice! But I can safely say that's never gonna happen! I think I remember seeing a tattoo place in Paris once, but can't remember where. Anyway, my dream for Paris is buying an apartment there to live in several months out of the year (don't think I want to exceed the max. stay and go thru all the red tape a longer stay would require). I'm with Gitte, I don't want to have to work, that would take all the fun out of it for me. In the mean time, I hope to continue vacationing there at least once a year.

;D
Buy an apartment along the Seine and spend several months a year there.
Make some extra money and keep busy giving guided shopping tours.
Explore all the different French cuisines.
Visit every area in France.
Really learn to speak French fluently--hard for me as I have a tin ear.

Penny, I like your suggestion of one for each season. How nice!

For years, I've told my daughters I was going to spend a part of my retirement in a small village in the South of France. When they would remind me that I don't speak French, I would reply,"I don't speak French Yet".

I too am dreaming of one day having my own beautiful apt in Paris!! (and I haven't even been there yet!) Sometimes you just know things without really knowing... well...I KNOW Paris is going to be MY city!! It is simply already in my blood. I was reading something this morning from Parlez Paris or Paris Insider (Adrian Leeds) about buying a 1/12 share in an apt. Hmmm...sounds pretty tempting. I don't have the info at my fingertips right now...but it is the second one this man has done. The first was in the 12th I believe and his second venture is in the 4th. Does anyone have any feedback on these partial share ventrures??

I would love to be fabulously wealthy and live in a fancy hotel ,, I like hotels as I love someone else to make my bed and clean my room, remember, this IS fantasy. I would have a small fridge and a micro wave to heat up some of the yummy stuff one can purchased already made. I would dine out alot as I love to eat, and eat well. When I am tired of eating out I will munch on bread, cheese, rabbit pate, and drink soft red wines and( not together!) Badoit, while lounging on my bed and reading, or while sitting on my picturesque balcony which of course would have an incredible view( and red gerainums, planted in a wooden window box,of course) I would not work,, not because I dislike work, but, because when one lives and works in France, or becomes a permanant resident, there is the sea of red tape that the average french person accepts as " the way it is done" that would drive me batty. I would take trips all over , 3 or 4 days here or there, every month.. I would consider buying a house in the south, view of the Med of course,, and a fig tree . I would return home ( Canada) to get my teeth done, and see doctor( as needed, not every 3 or 4 months) and collect mail, about once every three or four months. I would do Christmas at home, and perhaps some skiing at home( we do have awesome powder here) . I would invite friends to stay for free, as long as they bring home wine at least every two or three nights, and as long as they don't make me spend every waking moment with them( which ,, my real friends would not do as they know that would drive me batty also) . I would buy books every week, and sit at cafes ,, ordering 10 euro coffees and reading,, just for the heck of it. .
I live in a complete fantasy world.
